Trivia[]

  • The author, Jenny Dorsey, is a Chinese American professional chef, author, and artist.[1]
  • Dorsey mentioned that, while writing the book, she made sure to respect the cultures and cuisines from which the show takes influences, meaning mainly Japanese, Chinese, and Inuit cuisines for the Fire Nation, the Earth Kingdom, and the Water Tribes, respectively.[2][8]
  • Dorsey stated that the "Cabbage Cookies, Spicy Jang Hui Clams, Monk Gyatso's Fruit Pies, and Stewed Sea Prune Soup" were some of her favorite dishes in the book.[5] On her TikTok account, she also especially recommended Flaming Fire Flakes, Fire Gummies, Foggy Swamp Chicken, Cactus Juice, and Unfried Dough.[9]
  • The book initially included dishes which showcased a stronger link to Korra's lifetime, but were taken out as the focus was supposed to be on Aang's era.[8]
