Cycling fit and sizing guide

Cycling kits differ in fit depending on the brand, style, size, and fabric — so you have plenty of options. The best way to determine your size is to try on a Hincapie Fit Kit. Club Cut

The most relaxed fit, the Club Cut is best suited for the casual cyclist and weekend warrior — or for outfitting your office for a local fundraising ride. This fit is found in our Axis Club, Mountain Bike, and Active collections.

Race Cut

The Race Cut collections provide an athletic fit with a slim cut and a little breathing room. Our Velocity collection is available in this fit.

Pro Cut

With the most compressed fit, the Pro Cut collections are the perfect option for cyclists who prefer an ultra-tight fit. If ordered based on our Hincapie sizing chart, these jerseys will fit very slim through the chest and waist and feature a narrower sleeve. The Max, Signature, Arrow, and Gravel collections fall into this category.

How tight should my cycling bib shorts be?

We get this question often, and in many ways, it’s a matter of personal preference. In general, though, your bib shorts shouldn’t be tight enough to restrict movement but will definitely be snug. Any loose fabric will cause chafing during a ride. The straps are secure enough so they don’t fall off your shoulders. Your cycling jersey should fit snugly, with the cuffs fitting close enough to avoid chafing but also not digging into your arm—think tighter than a t-shirt, but less tight than a base layer.

Chest Fit

The chest fit is a matter of personal preference, but generally, it should fit snugly without restricting movement.

Inseam Fit

Hincapie considers 11” the standard inseam measurement for men and 7” the standard for women. We also offer 9.5” inseam for men and 8.5” inseam for women in most styles.

Sleeve Fit

Like the chest fit, the sleeve fit is also up to personal preference, but you never want sleeves so loose that they’re flapping in the wind. Sleeves should be tight enough to prevent chafing.

Waist Fit

If you wear shorts, the waist should fit comfortably without rolling down or restricting breathing. Bib shorts allow for less chafing, a wider range of motion, and more comfort in the riding position.

How to Measure for a custom kit

1.Headgear: Measure around your head where you would wear a headband, just above your ear and along your forehead.2.Chest: Measure around fullest part of your chest, just below your underarm.3.Arms: Measure the circumference of your bicep at the thickest area.4.Waist: Measure around your natural waistline.5.Hip: Measure around the fullest part of your hips.6.Palm: Measure the circumference of the widest part of your hand (not including your thumb).7.Thigh: Measure the circumference of your thigh at the largest point.
