Because whoever is out in the Saxon capital between the end of November and December will notice it for sure: Dresdner Christstollen is not only an adventure for the taste buds. Whether in cafés or restaurants, art galleries or museums, during city tours or on one of the traditional Christmas markets, one can encounter the famous product of the city and it's moving history everywhere.
With events that are much more than just enjoying the pastry, Dresden's stollen bakers and pastry makers successfully manage to create an adventure out of the craft and the tradition and thereby preserve it.

In the middle of the wild Christmas market, in between lovely decorated huts, visitors of the Striezelmarkt can enjoy the Dresdner Christstollen with all their senses. In the showroom bakery the so-called old masters, former baker and baker master of the Stollen Association, are busy baking Stollen. Here, visitors can experience how Dresden's famous Christmas pastry is made.
A great atmosphere filled with a sweet smell and the Christmas warmth is inviting to stay, watch and try. The experienced stollen bakers provide a really special pre-Christmas adventure and reveal some of the Dresdner Christstollen’s history that is worth knowing.
The showroom bakery at the Dresdner Striezelmarkt is open daily from 10am to 9pm.
Bake Christstollen on Your Own - The Adventure Bakeries
Even though the baker's oven never stop baking after October, Dresdner bakers take time off for their stollen fans from all around the world. In special courses and tours they grant a peak behind the scenes of the tradition of the Dresdner Christstollen. But be aware! Who participates definitely needs to have strength in their fingers. Because baking stollen is not that easy. If you've tried it once, you will get to appreciate the "hand"-craft even more.
