Prof. Schriefer is one of the few people I truly respect. Had him for two classes and got to know the guy well; he can seem gruff at first but he cares a LOT about his students and goes way out of his way to help them succeed, so long as they put in their effort. He is extremely knowledgeable, dedicated, and has decades of experience in insurance.

This was by far my favorite and most beneficial class I've taken at FSU. If you're interested in the insurance industry, this class is perfect for you because you learn how to read and understand different coverages. In the beginning, he does seem scary, but as the semester goes on, it shows that he truly cares about his students.Highly recommended

Seriously the best professor I have ever taken. At first he seems stern and unapproachable, but if you take a couple minutes to get to know him you will see how kind and generous he is. He makes himself available on weekends to meet with students, and does exam reviews giving basically all the questions. Just go to class and office hours!

You learn every single detail about insurance so be ready to study for hours on hours for this class. I took this over summer b so maybe its less congested during a school year, but over summer, this class was miserable.

He will send out mass emails complaining to students about people asking for grade help. His homework is easy but his tests are single sentences from hundreds of pages in the textbook where he changes one word or number and expects you to recognize it. I got two degrees and this was the worst class with the worst teacher I've ever had.

This was the absolute worst class I took at FSU. The professor is rude, abrasive, and thinks he is better than the students. If you can avoid taking this class you should. His tests are crazy hard and the HW is done in groups... The quizzes are also hard but a lot of the answers can be found on quizlet.

Incredibly smart & great guy, you genuinely have to learn & work in this class but it is worth it. Weekly quiz/lectures, totally manageable & group hw every other week. Tests are HARD, I studied a lot & just did okay but I will be fine in the end.

This class is rough. I'm a rising senior and this is one of the most difficult classes I've taken. Test questions are SO SPECIFIC that he will change one word or number (mentioned in one sentence in the textbook) and expect you to remember that one fact out of 200 pages of reading. Professor Schriefer is a nice guy, but his class is very difficult.

He is strict and sometimes comes off as rude, but very knowledgable. Attendance is mandatory and the lectures can be monotone & boring. Worst part of the class was by far the exams. He writes a VERY long & hard exam. Although theres a quiz and homework assignment on canvas each week, it barely helps your grade if you don't do well on an exam.

He comes off as a very strict guy but he really isn't that bad. Pretty much every class is, show up, sign attendance sheet, he has like 10 mins of announcements and the other hour is lecture from the power point. Make sure you understand what he is saying because this isn't easy stuff to learn. This whole course is like trying to figure outa puzzle

Lectures are just him reading off of Pearson slides, so insanely dry. Paul has a good sense of humor and is a great guy but terrible as a professor. My class was afraid to ask questions or answer his questions because he would be rude with his responses. This class is pretty much determined by how much you study the book. Don't take this professor.

Probably one my hardest classes at FSU but also one of the best. Schriefer is sarcastic and tough, he respects people who respect his time and class. He is always available for students and makes an effort to make lectures interesting. Easily one of the most dedicated professors I've had at FSU would 100% take him again. Hard class but worth it!

No required text book so the only way to study for the class was through the use of "lecture notes" which the professor admitted were somebody else's. This was obvious because he was never able to answer questions about them. He also admitted he didn't even review them before using them. He is rude, unprofessional and lazy. Stay FAR away from him!

I don't know how you could be a terrible online professor to professional adult graduate students, but this guy takes the cake. Avoid having him at all costs- if you have any issues regardless of circ*mstance, he will be rude and uncaring. He does not explain anything and his lectures are recycled from a past professor, very sloppy.

Mandatory in class assignments so you have to go to class, but the lectures are boring and not helpful. He mostly reads off the powerpoints, but when he isn't, he's talking in paragraphs so it's hard to know what you need to know for the test. Most of the time when someone would ask a question, he'd say "I told you earlier." Avoid him if you can.

Paul is a nice guy. He's extremely sarcastic, so don't ask stupid questions or he will really roast you. He gave a couple extra credit opportunities and curved exams. This was a 6 week class, so he flew through the material, but was always available for students. He is an easy grader, but he expects to see effort. He's a great and funny guy.

He only reads off Powerpoints. DOESN'T TEACH. Sarcastic and rude to students. NOT A GOOD TEACHER TAKE ANYONE ELSE. Went from online to in person courses, needs to stay with online. HORIBBLE TEACHER, cannot emphasize that enough. Seems like 'good guy', but isn't. He's a bad teacher, rude, disrespectful towards students. Save yourself, don't take!!
