Winter mostly requires heartwarming dishes, and our favorite cauliflower recipe for the season is Cheesy Cauliflower Casserole. However, as the weather warms up, we feel tired of all these and crave for something lighter and simpler, right? This DeepFried Cauliflower Recipe will make a good change in your menu. Enjoy it as a main dish served with a yogurt sauce like our Yogurt and Cucumber Dip.

Cauliflower florets are dipped into a spicy mixture right before going into a very hot frying pan and they become irresistibly appetizing. You can skip the dipping mixture to make deep fried cauliflower no batter. Just throw the florets into the pan if you want it even simpler, but do this in batches. They are still good but I highly recommend you to give battered cauliflower a try to see how it changes the taste.

Frying Batter

So what does the batter contain? An egg, some milk and corn flour are mixed together until smooth. Then it is spiced up with a little cumin, black pepper and ground coriander seeds. You can use all purpose flour as well, but I wanted it to be gluten-free and have that golden look.

Roasted or Fried?

For me, cauliflower is such a great vegetable that we can create several recipes with it. The best two methods of cooking it are roasting and frying. They become equally tasty. However, roasting requires less effort and is lower in calories.

I’m never tired of trying new recipes with this so-called boring vegetable. We always need variety, don’t we? If someone says that cauliflower tastes no good, believe me he doesn’t know the right way to cook it. It can completely transform into an amazing food when cooked right. This spicy fried cauliflower recipe is one of the best right ways to enjoy cauliflower!

How To Make

The recipe has three easy parts.

First, make the batter by combining the ingredients for batter.

Second, dip the cauliflower florets into this batter.

Third, place the battered cauliflower florets into heated oil. Do these steps in batches and don't overload the frying pan with florets. Otherwise, they taste as if they were steamed. Flip them over occasionally so that all sides are golden. Transfer on paper towel to remove excessive oil.

Fried cauliflower is mostly preferred warm, so you can serve them warm with some homemade yogurt alongside. I love them eating cold though. They taste even better the next day.
