Our Best Spinach Dip, Bread Bowl Not Included

We make this creamy spinach dip recipe every time we know there’s going to be a crowd. In fact, it might be a good idea to double the recipe, because this one goes quickly. It’s a cold spinach dip recipe that is the belle of the snacky foods ball. A spinach dip that, once you make it, people will ask you to bring it every time you get invited to a party.

Spinach Dip Tips

  • Can you use fresh spinach and spinach dip? The answer is technically yes, but this produces a lot of liquid. The easy, surefire way to make spinach dip is to use thawed frozen spinach because you can wring it out first.

  • It’s important to remove as much liquid from the thawed spinach as possible! If you don’t remove the excess liquid, you’ll have a runny spinach dip on your hands. To avoid this spinach dip devastation, place spinach on a clean kitchen towel and wring out as much as you can over the sink.

  • Can you make spinach dip ahead of time? Sure! You can whip up a batch or two the day before you need it.

  • How long is spinach dip good for in the fridge? You can refrigerate spinach dip in a sealed container for 3-4 days. Always trust your sniffer–if it smells off, toss it!

  • Can you freeze spinach dip? This isn’t a great dip to refrigerate. We’re sure someone somewhere has spinach dip in their freezer, but once it thaws it’s likely that the mayonnaise and sour cream will break and the texture will be unpleasant.

  3. Serve. Set out a pile of carrot and celery sticks and tortilla chips or crackers.

What To Dip In Spinach Dip

We would dip our bare hands into spinach dip if it meant we could eat it faster. But to be a little less uncouth, we recommend chips–tortilla are great, because they’re nice and sturdy–or veggie sticks like carrot and celery are good too. Pita bread (and pita chips!), potato chips, or sliced baguette all make great dippers for spinach dip. You could, of course, go completely old school and make a loaf of Sourdough Bread to make a bread bowl for your homemade spinach dip.

What To Serve With Creamy Spinach Dip

So you’re having a party and it’s your time to flex your snacktime skills. The perfect spread at our houses looks like this: Baked Chicken Wings (or Baked Buffalo Wings), Pigs In A Blanket, and Chimichurri Meatballs for finger foods. Oven Baked Pork Ribs or Award Winning Chili as the main, and Rice Crispy Treats for a sweet, easy finish.
