Joseph Paul Grisanti died peacefully in his sleep, at home, after a long illness.

He was born to Vito Grisanti and Carmella Ciarello Grisanti, in their home in Mt. Vernon, NY, on December 25, 1928. He had an only sister, Rose Grisanti Veteri, whom he loved dearly. He attended public shools in Mt. Vernon and graduated from Davis High School and worked at Peter Pauper Press as a typesetter until he joined the Army and the Air Force.

On December 4, 1954 he married Jacqueline Glomot and had a daughter, Marguerite (Mimi) Weber in January of 1956. Joe, or “Sonny”, as many of his relatives called him, worked as a typesetter at the New York Times for 25 years, while also pursuing several entrepreneurial endeavors (owner of a Carvel ice cream store, stationary store and finally a print shop after retiring from the Times).
In 1980, he took an early retirement from the Times and relocated to Florida with his wife and daughter. He briefly worked at the Sun-Sentinel and at 63 years old he fully retired. During his retirement, he volunteered at St. Joan Catholic Church, helping others in need through their social outreach programs.

Joe was a faithful Catholic and a dedicated family man.Family and faith were everything to him and he provided a beautiful example to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Jackie, daughter Mimi (Weber), son-in-law Gerard Weber, grandchildren: Andrew, Jaclyn Weber Basehore, Audrey, Margo and Brandon Basehore. He also has nieces and nephews: Carolyn and Al Facendo, Anthony and Maureen Veteri and grandnieces/nephews: GP Miklakos, Toni and Jeff Muntz and Tori and Eric Strickland.
