How to change serpentine belt on MERCEDES-BENZ C-Class Saloon (W204) – replacement guide (2024)

Replacement: serpentine belt – MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS (W204). AUTODOC experts recommend:

   Open the bonnet.

   Step 2

   Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.

   Step 3

   

   Remove the engine cover.

   AUTODOC recommends:

   Replacement: serpentine belt – MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS (W204). Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it.

   Remove the air intake hoses.

3. Step 5

   

   Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #16.

4. Step 6

   

   Remove the V-ribbed belt.

   Replacement: serpentine belt – MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS (W204). AUTODOC recommends:

   Check the condition of the tensioner pulley and idler pulley. Replace them if necessary.

5. Step 7

   Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position.

   Step 8

   

   Install the V-ribbed belt.

   Replacement: serpentine belt – MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS (W204). Tip from AUTODOC:

   Make sure that the V-ribbed belt fits all pulleys snugly.

6. Step 9

   

   Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #16.

7. Step 10

   

   Place the V-ribbed belt on the tensioner pulley.

8. Step 11

   Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position. Use a combination spanner #16.

   Step 12

   

   Reinstall the air intake hoses.

9. Step 13

   

   Install the engine cover and secure it.

   AUTODOC recommends:

   Make sure the engine cover is properly seated. It should not be displaced with respect to the guiding fasteners and the throttle body air intake hose.Replacement: serpentine belt – MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS (W204). Do not use excessive force during installation. This may damage the part.

   Step 14

   Remove the fender protection cover.

   Step 15

   Close the hood.
