Spring Recipe Bucket List
March 21, 2021
I only recently started putting together a bucket list of recipes for us to try each season and I am loving this push to try new foods! We have found at least 3 new favorite dishes for the whole family through these lists so I am determined to keep it going!
Looking around on Pinterest, I found quite a few recipes that caught my eye!
2. Scones; I have been wanting to make scones for quite some time and though using some fresh spring fruits from our misfits box would make a delicious breakfast treat.
3. Weight Watcher's Ramen Noodle salad-- I have been looking for more salads that use cabbage!
4. Honey butter Old Bay grilled shrimp
5. Orzo with tomato and zucchini
6. Turkey burgers with zucchini
7. One of these new chicken marinades
8. Strawberry chocolate chip Bundtcake-- I don't think Alec and I have EVER made a Bundt cake! But I thought this might be a delicious dessert to try for mother's day.
9. Shrimp, peas, and rice one dish
10. Pistachio delight; I found a few recipes on Pinterest that look promising but I'm hoping my mom and I can recreate this dessert that she used to make for me all the time when I was growing up.
11. Some new side salads like this asparagus/ strawberry salad.

Yum!! I have a good quinoa salad that uses cabbage, I need to make it again!

That ramen noodle salad looks fantastic. I can't use the packet for seasoning because of MSG, but I am going to look up alternatives for flavor. My mom was telling me about a homemade chicken noodle soup recipe, but instead of making the noodles, using ramen noodles! I love that idea.

These all sound delicious! I recently made something similar to Pasta Primavera but without cream and lemon. I made a marble bundt cake on Friday and we've already eaten all of it!! The strawberry chocolate chip version sounds sooooo good!! And love the look of the asparagus strawberry salad. I've never had asparagus raw! I might have to try it! Also want to try the Orzo with Zucchini! My family loves everything Zucchini!

This is a great idea for a spring list. I can't wait to hear how they turn out and might need to try a few myself.

What a great idea putting together a seasonal list of foods to try. I love orzo, but it doesn't go down well with my family, in fact I don't think my family has much of the same taste as me for anything! I've never made pasta primavera though, maybe they will like that?

My family is perfectly find with pasta in any form! But the boys aren't very big on veggies so I'm thinking that pasta primavera will not be their favorite. However, every now and then I cook things that I like and even if they don't they can make their own meal.

Pasta primavera is something I've been wanting to try, too! It sounds delicious.

This makes me hungry. I love turkey burgers and make them quite often. Once you find the perfect recipe, you never turn back.

I make a pistachio delight type recipe that is loosely based on what I've heard called Watergate salad. PC loves it. His mom made it when he was a child. My version changes with the ingredients I have on hand but it is a holiday staple.
Have tabs open for some of these ideas. Thanks for sharing. Back on WW over here. Oy vey.

Ooh Joanne, these all look so good! I love pasta primavera and the honey butter shrimp looks amazing, too! My 8 year old is the biggest fan of bundt cakes (but we always have to pronounce it the way the mom in My Big Fat Greek Wedding says it..."boooondtttt"). In fact, he just asked me to make one last night but I managed to push it off onto my husband by suggesting his go-to (and my favorite)...my mom's pineapple upside down cake! That does not work in a bundt pan so I was off the hook! Thanks for sharing these wonderful recipe ideas and linking with me!

Share Our Lives; How I Met My Husband
February 12, 2024
This month for the Share Our Lives link up we're talking about how we met our significant others (or perhaps you'd rather share how you and your best friend met!). My husband and I actually do not remember meeting one another; we went to the same middle school so we met at some point during school. We had a group of friends that hung out together all through our last two years of middle school and while I definitely remember him there I don't remember the first time we met. Here he is at some point probably in 8th grade teasing me for always snapping photos (I even had a camera in my hand most of the time back then too!) Sorry the photos aren't the best but I'm taking pictures of pictures for this post. Our friend group changed a bit from time to time with new members coming in as they became friends with one of us... but there were a core group of us that remained pretty consistent. Almost all the guys from that friend group headed off to the local technical h

Prime Purchases in February 2023
March 04, 2024
Why do I always feel so surprised when I go to write this post and see all my month's purchases laid out in one long list? I honesty thought we hadn't bought much at all this month but I, once again, see that I bought more than I thought I had. I already know next months list will probably be long too; I'm hoping to start working on picking out Evan's schoolwork for next year and I want to buy a bunch of bins to organize our freezers. But enough about that; today is time for Prime Purchases with Tanya! I finally broke down and ordered this blouse that I've been seeing on various blogs and I really like it. It's going to be a great blouse for spring with all the fun colors and I love the wide sleeves. This blouse popped up as another suggestion and on a whim I decided to add that to my cart too and I just love it; the material, the style, and the color are just perfect for me. It comes in a bunch of colors and I can see myself ordering another one or two.. T

Share 4 Somethings in February 2024
February 23, 2024
With tomorrow being the last Saturday of the month it's time for the Share 4 Somethings link up with Jennifer. In 2024 we'll be sharing some things we've loved and/or disliked, accomplished, some things we've improved upon and/or that need improvement, and noticed (either in our own lives or around town). Loved/Disliked: That we FINALLY got to celebrate Alec's 18th birthday; even if we were nearly a month late. Accomplished: Quite a bit! I got my annual mammogram done, I made appointments for the boys, worked on making some cards and scrapbook pages, and ordered all the prints from December, January, and February so I can get started on those pages soon too. It feels so good to be momentarily all caught up! Improved upon/needs improvement: I've been going back to the basics with our food; buying blocks of cheese to shred myself, making my own spice mixes, batch cooking on the weekends for quick grab and go meals during the week, etc. Things I used to do
