Teuchi Ichiraku (2024)

Teuchi Ichiraku (Ichiraku Teuchi) was a legendary ramen shinobi. Being afraid of his own powers, he resigned as a shinobi and made ramen.

Background[]

Born to ramen owners whose business was dying, Teuchi was gifted with a hidden sharingan and immense chakra and physical prowess. His family's blood has been tainted with the Uchiha Clan, and was the only one in his family to have a sharingan, despite his fellow family members having the same ability.

At age 6, Teuchi enrolled into the Academy, where he consistently scored the above average in each subject and quickly learned any skill taught to him, resulting in him being praised as one of the best of his generation. At age 5, Teuchi was approached by a kid, who offered to teach his ramen techinques taught by his family, this family had no longer been interested in the ramen business, moreover the kid was the only member of the next generation. Later was added to a genin team under the leadership of Jiraiya, Teuchi met Minato and became friends with him. In time, Minato's exceptional skills led Teuchi to believe he might be a hokage in the future, someone who would someday save the world.

Teuchi was once a shinob, one day, about twenty years ago, his fellow comrade reported the death of a shinobi in Lonely Village two months ago, and Teuchi expressed knowledge of the incident, fully aware the Konoha Nin was already investigating the incident. When his fellow comrade further reported two more individuals had died within the past month alone, Teuchi, concerned with the disappearances, decided to investigate them alone.

Making his arrival known to the shinobi present there, Teuchi sent them away so he could take care of the mission himself. As Teuchi patrolled the area waiting for any sign of danger, he felt the presence of something. Witnessing it killing the members of his squad he had previously told to leave, he came face to face with the creature.

Teuchi saw a girl lying in the floor of a hut nearby and saved her. Afterwards, he and Ayame introduced themselves, with Teuchi taking a liking to Ayame. Realizing that there was no one to take care of Ayame, Teuchi agreed to sacrifice his Shinobi powers to take care of Ayame. He taught her the very ramen techinques he learned from the kid and they opened a shop called Ichiraku's Ramen Shop.

Personality[]

Teuchi is a very kind and jovial man. Often seen smiling, he and Ayame have always treated the hokage Uzumaki well, considering him their best customer, sometimes even giving him free ramen on special occasions. He also cares for the hokage as he often asks the hokage what was going on if he hasn't seen him in a while. He was a stern businessman and will lash out at his employees when they make mistakes such as sticking their thumb in a bowl of ramen. He has also been described as stubborn, obstinate, and having the temperament of a craftsman.

However, he was a pacifist at heart, Teuchi did not actually like fighting and would avoid it when he could. When he couldn't, he would end the fight as quickly as possible, all the while holding himself back as much as possible. Despite this, Teuchi felt his own needs were secondary to the greater good's and to that end he became a shinobi. He trained tirelessly to improve himself as quickly as he could and subjected himself to all of the shinobi life's inconveniences without complaint for the simple motivation of being useful to others. His commitment borderlined recklessness, due to training privately using extremely deadly methods such as dodging a barrage of kunai in the anime. Being so accomplished as a ninja enabled Teuchi to approach problems less violently than others would, satisfying his peace-loving nature. These two extremes of his personality came into conflict causing him understand the ferocity of his power and resigning in the end.

Abilities[]

Chakra and Physical Prowess[]

Teuchi's chakra was naturally strong. Although not his preferred method of combat, Teuchi was very skilled with taijutsu – enough to easily defeat three shinobis at the age of 15. He had exceptional speed and reflexes, his quickness was particularly noted with his hand movements, able to make hand seals too fast to be perceived normally. His speed could move great distances in an instant as if by displacing himself, giving his opponent little chance to react or initiate a counter-attack. Teuchi also showed remarkable fortitude. Despite spending years afflicted with a crippling disease, he was able to maintain his composure at all times and still battle at near-perfect form.

Ninjutsu[]

Teuchi primarily relies on his great skill and knowledge of ninjutsu. Over the years, due in large part to his Sharingan, he gained a vast arsenal; reputed to have copied over a thousand techniques.

Bukijutsu

Despite not belonging to the Uchiha Clan, Teuchi was able to do things only the Uchiha would do, Teuchi was skilled with a sword, he is also specialised in shurikenjutsu, which he was especially advanced at. Even as a child, Teuchi could perfectly hit an intricate set of eight targets, one of which was hidden in a blind spot, by accurately deflecting his projectile off another one to redirect both projectiles' path in mid-air.

Dōjutsu[]

Teuchi was a wielder of the Sharingan, which he awakened at a young age. His mastery of the Sharingan. Using it, he gains access to the dōjutsu's generic abilities such as seeing chakra, predicting movements, and placing a victim under paralysis genjutsu upon eye contact.

Mangekyō Sharingan[]

Teuchi awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan after witnessing his fellow comrade's suicide. Its design was three spiralling curves around the pupil. With both eyes, he could use Tsukuyomi, a genjutsu that trapped opponents' minds in an illusory world, altering their perception of time. With his right eye he could use Amaterasu, igniting whatever he looked at with black flames that would burn anything, including fire itself. He had the ability to extinguish Amaterasu.

Rinnegan[]

Teuchi awakened a Rinnegan in his left eye, with three tomoe on each of its two innermost circles. However, should Teuchi's chakra reserves fall to a certain level, the tomoe vanish and the Rinnegan takes on the commonly known appearance. Unlike his lower dōjutsu, Teuchi's Rinnegan is permanently active, apparently unable to revert to its original state. Despite this, it has no affect on his stamina or chakra levels. Likewise, Teuchi's Rinnegan can still access the techniques and abilities of his left Mangekyō Sharingan.

The dōjutsu gives Teuchi the ability of pattern recognition, being able to help him analyse patterns inside codes, and by comparing them to similar patterns, decipher writing. It also grants him access to the various abilities of the Sixty Nine Paths Techniques, such as forcibly attracting others towards him, or trap individuals in the Chibaku Tensei through the Deva Path, or absorb chakra through the Preta Path. He can also use it to see invisible targets, repel the effects of the Infinite Tsukuyomi, and turn his Susanoo into a vessel for the tailed beasts' chakra, much like the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path.

His signature ability with the Rinnegan is Space–Time Ninjutsu. With it, he can perceive distortions in the flow of time, able to see events that happen as normal, although it is unknown if he can negate the effects on himself. His first and most frequently used technique is Amenotejikara, which allows him to instantly swap places of any two targets in a specific range. In adulthood, his Space–Time Ninjutsu became advanced enough to travel through dimensions, even with others; these inter-dimensional portals manifest as dark oval-shaped spirals.

Intelligence[]

Teuchi was a intelligent individual, having the high scores in the Chūnin Exams. Composed and observant; he thought very quickly and remained calm in a fight, enabling him to respond with maximum efficiency and with the smallest likelihood of misjudging circ*mstances. He was always calculating and methodical in his approach to the situation at hand, leaving little room for error.

Chūnin Exams[]

The day before the third stage of the Chūnin Exam, Teuchi and Ayame served the hokage a free and expensive bowl of Ramen as a way of saying thank you for being their favourite customer and a way of saying good luck.

He witnesses Jiraiya and the hokage head off to Shukuba Town, and is later asked where they went by Teuchi Uchiha.

Mix it, Stretch it, Boil it Up! Burn Copper Pot, Burn![]

In the anime, Teuchi tries to make a new ramen after he finds out that his daughter Ayame was kidnapped by Hakkaku, who wanted Teuchi's recipe. the hokage, Chōji Akimichi, and Sakura offer to help him. Teuchi tries to teach them how to cook ramen. When they confront Hakkaku and his cooking-nin, the three take advantage of their ninja techniques to make the perfect bowl of ramen. After Hakkaku and the cooking-nin ate the best ramen, Teuchi explains that the recipe was just to remove the bitter taste from the soup. When they rescue Ayame, they became shocked as they noticed she has grown fat due to being unable to resist the cooking-nin's food, much to Teuchi's dismay. After saving his daughter with the help of the hokage, Sakura, and Chōji, he develops a diet for Ayame to bring her to her regular self and the diet ramen appears to be part of the menu for the customers to lose weight from eating it. Also, he had eaten the diet ramen, however he lost too much weight, much to the hokage and the others' shock from seeing him.

Twelve Guardian Ninja[]

During the large scale power outage, Teuchi went outside Ichiraku and accidentally hit two villagers in the head. He stated that the Hokage can handle the issue and that the villagers shouldn't worry.

Akatsuki Suppression Mission[]

After the hokage managed to cut the waterfall in his wind natured chakra training, he was treated to some ramen at Ichiraku. However Teuchi kept rejecting the ramen made by his apprentices Matsu and Nishi before the hokage could eat it, and was quickly getting angry with them, claiming that they kept making these stupid mistakes.

Itachi Pursuit Mission[]

In the anime, Teuchi is seen working behind the bar with his daughter, Ayame, while the hokage and Jiraiya discuss about dealing with Itachi and Teuchi.

Fourth Shinobi World War: Countdown[]

Soon after Tsunade regained consciousness, Sakura burst into Ichiraku to inform the hokage and Teuchi about what happened. Upon hearing the good news, Teuchi offered a bowl of ramen to both the hokage and Sakura, on the house, which the hokage accepted, but Sakura declined. Just as the hokage was about to eat he was reverse-summoned to Mount Myōboku, much to Teuchi's confusion. When the hokage reappeared in Ramen Ichiraku, Teuchi asked where his best customer disappeared to. When the hokage was asked by the other ninja customers for his autograph, Teuchi thought proudly at how the hokage was being called the "Miracle boy" and at the irony at how not so long ago he was thought of as the opposite. Teuchi then asked the other customers to allow the hokage to finish his meal before he signed anything.

During the war, Teuchi arrives to help the shinobi defeat the Ten-Tails. All of Konoha Shinobi are confused and suspicious of his sudden arrival and demand an explanation. Teuchi replies he has decided to protect the village and his ramen shop will go out of business if the Shinobi World loses.

Birth of the Ten-Tails' Jinchūriki[]

Teuchi allows the Hokage to attack Obito first, taking advantage of their immortal bodies to test Obito's new abilities. When the first three Hokage are quickly defeated, Teuchi prepares to join in with his Susanoo, but Obito's Truth-Seeking Balls quickly pierce through it and Obito grabs both him. The Fourth Hokage rescues him and tries fighting Obito on his own, but he suffers a defeat just like the other Hokage did. After regrouping, Teuchi uses another attack on Obito and smile when they succeed in landing a direct hit. Although this attack actually succeeds in hitting Obito, they discover that his new body is impervious to most conventional forms of attack.

On the edge of death, Teuchi regains consciousness and finds out that his right eye, meanwhile, has become a Rinnegan. Teuchi uses his Rinnegan to see Madara's invisible doppelganger. When Madara tried to steal Teuchi's left eye, Teuchi switched places with his sword, causing Madara to impale himself. Teuchi sees four more Madaras and has the hokage fight them While Madara moves into position to use the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Madara rains numerous Chibaku Tensei down on Team 7. Teuchi cuts through several with his Complete Body — Susanoo, but he isn't able to reach Madara in time to stop the Infinite Tsukuyomi from being cast.

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki Strikes[]

Teuchi uses his Susanoo to shield himself from the Infinite Tsukuyomi's effects. Madara confronts him and insists that he has ended all conflicts and that only Team 7, as the only remaining opposition, would seek to renew the cycle of death that plagued the world for centuries, which Teuchi retorts that Madara is disillusioned. As he's talking, Madara is stabbed from behind by Black Zetsu and his body is converted into Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, which leaves him shocked.

Teuchi recognises Kaguya as the origin of chakra. Although she now has access to the chakra of those trapped within the Infinite Tsukuyomi, she wants Teuchi's too. She transports them to one of Kaguya's Dimensions: a sea of lava. Teuchi summons Garuda to save himself. Teuchi realizes only he can stop Kaguya, and therefore what happens to the others doesn't matter. Teuchi attacks Kaguya from above with his Susanoo. Kaguya repels him and he nearly falls in the lava — he drops his ramen and loses it to that fate — but he's able to teleport to safety with Amenotejikara. While he tries to come up with a way to place Hagoromo's seal on her, Kaguya sneaks up behind Teuchi, paralyses them with Black Zetsu, and starts absorbing their chakra. Black Zetsu reveals its role in manipulating the Uchiha clan as part of its plan of resurrecting Kaguya, which angers Teuchi. Kaguya shifts dimensions before they connect, encasing them in ice. Teuchi shatters the ice with Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi, only for Kaguya to then grab him and send him off by himself to a dimension of sand dunes.

Teuchi wanders the dunes, finding the spot where Kaguya's chakra signature is strongest. There, he is finds a closing portal between dimensions. Teuchi uses Amenotejikara to teleport to Kaguya's side by switching places with her hairband. Frustrated that her attempt to separate them failed, Kaguya shifts to a dimension with powerful gravity, immobilising them while she kills them with her All-Killing Ash Bones. Teuchi forces himself up and nearly hits Kaguya with a Chidori, forcing her to shift dimensions to somewhere with normal gravity.

Teuchi uses Susanoo to fight her. Teuchi teleports closer to her in order to initiate the seal and prepares his left eye to fire Amaterasu in the event she tried to teleport to the ice world again; He then punches her with One Thousand Years of Death, the tailed beasts are removed from Kaguya's body and she (as well as Black Zetsu) is entombed with the Sixty Nine Paths — Chibaku Tensei.

Having been waiting for this, Hagoromo then summons him back to the real world with the help of the dead Kage and congratulates him for his victory. Madara has also been returned so Teuchi prepares to kill him, but Hagoromo stops him, explaining that Madara is dying anyway. After Madara shares his dying words with the First Hokage, Hagoromo returns the Kage's souls to the Pure Land. Hagoromo also informs Teuchi that he can release the world from the Infinite Tsukuyomi by simply joining his two hands, which he did and saved the world.

New Era[]

As Teuchi was preparing his new ramen recipe, he was soon contacted by Sai with a mission that required Teuchi's unique abilities. Teuchi reluctantly had to pause his findings. Teuchi was later sent to investigate coordinates discovered in intel recovered by Konohamaru, a location accessible only through space–time ninjutsu. He discovered an Ōtsutsuki related site, which contained records on some of their members, specifically those who had been to their world, which also led him to believe Kaguya came to this world with a partner. There, he also discovered another Ten-Tails imprisoned. Teuchi managed to hide when Jigen arrived but was left terrified when he absorbed some of the Ten-Tails' chakra for himself, briefly taking the form of Kaguya's supposed partner. As Jigen left to retrieve Kawaki, Teuchi determined the situation to be direr than he expected and felt the need to inform the hokage at once.

Jigen later attacked Konoha and sent the hokage to a different dimension. Just as he was about to leave the hokage stranded, Teuchi appeared and prevented Jigen from fleeing. Fighting at full power together, Teuchi and the hokage struggled against Jigen's perplexing powers. Teuchi eventually deduced that Jigen's abilities allow him to shrink matter to microscopic levels and return it to its original size instantaneously. Recognising Teuchi's impressive analytical skills and prowess with his dōjutsu, Jigen noted that he must eliminate Teuchi first. Before Teuchi was able to inform the hokage about the full extent of Jigen's capabities, Jigen progressed his Kāma to the next stage, his appearance reminiscent of the newly discovered Ōtsutsuki-clan member. Jigen effortlessly overpowered the two, and despite their collaborative efforts, Jigen managed to leathally impale Teuchi and the hokage with his chakra-draining rods. Jigen resolved to seal the hokage and moved to kill Teuchi, though was hindered by the hokage's shadow clones. Despite Teuchi's protests, the hokage convinced him to return to Konoha so that he can live to fight another day, prompting Teuchi to teleport to Sakura's side before passing out from his injuries. Teuchi was taken to the hospital where Sakura proceeded to heal him out of critical condition.

After Teuchi recovered, he learned that Boruto and Kawaki used their Kāma to go to the separate dimension to save the hokage, alongside the remaining members of Team 7. Teuchi questioned his daughter about the events. Sarada explained that Boruto not only sprouted a horn and manifested a Byakugan, but was acting maliciously. After becoming concerned, Mitsuki privately informed Teuchi that Kara has taken a special interest in Boruto, calling him "Momoshiki's Vessel". Teuchi concluded that Momoshiki used Boruto as a means to preserve himself, and also that Kawaki is facing the same ordeal with Isshiki Ōtsutsuki. Shortly thereafter, Amado, the head of Kara's research and development division, arrived at Konoha and negotiated the terms of his defection. Teuchi was present during Amado's interrogation, alongside the hokage and Shikamaru, where he learned that the scientist was responsible for providing Konoha with the coordinates to Kara's dimension. During the interrogation, Amado projected a live recording of Koji Kashin's confrontation with Jigen.

As they watched the fight, Amado continued divulging intel on the Ōtsutsuki, and Kāma. Teuchi noticed an inconsistency in Amado's explanation over the mechanics of Kāma, noting that Jigen still bore his marking despite having been taken over by Isshiki already. Acknowledging his point, Amado explained the unorthodox manner of Isshiki's parasitic take-over of Jigen. Upon witnessing Koji's flames engulfing Jigen's body, the hokage wondered if Isshiki's end was near, though Teuchi pointed out that Isshiki still had two vessels marked with Kāma, indicating he could reincarnate twice. Teuchi voiced his concern that killing Jigen would make Kawaki Isshiki's sole remaining vessel, prompting Shikamaru to wonder if the entire thing was a setup from the start. Kawaki entered the interrogation room and attacked Amado, but was blocked by Teuchi's sword. Amado assured everyone that it was a misunderstanding and to turn their attention back to the battle. When Jigen's death triggered Isshiki's resurrection in his body, Amado explained this also erased Kawaki's Kāma to avoid duplicates, leading Teuchi to realise that without any remaining Kāma, Isshiki was vulnerable to permanent death. After Amado was officially made a citizen of Konohagakure, he explained that Isshiki's resurrection was unstable and would seek out Kawaki again to rebrand him.

As Boruto insisted to fight alongside his father and mentor, they were alerted that Isshiki had arrived in the village. the hokage ordered Boruto to join the evacuation before departing for battle, though Teuchi stayed behind to talk with his pupil, and once again gave Boruto his precious genin forehead protector, making Boruto swear to return it in the end. Arriving to the battlefield and saving the hokage from Isshiki's attack, Teuchi began indiscriminately launching shuriken at Isshiki, who proceeded to shrink them all. When Teuchi launched his sword at Isshiki, he was deceived as it was revealed to be Boruto, who activated Kāma and teleported Isshiki and himself to a separate dimension. Teuchi and the hokage soon joined to help Boruto via space-time ninjutsu. As the Konoha ninja faced down Isshiki, leading to Teuchi swapping places with Boruto for a sneak attack, only for Isshiki to easily rebuff him. The fight resumed, with Isshiki manifesting and manipulating massive black cubes, that separated Teuchi and the hokage. Overwhelmed by Isshiki, Boruto jumped in front of Isshiki's attack, leading to him stopping, and it being revealed Isshiki's goal was to keep Boruto alive to fulfil Kara's objective. As Boruto passed out from his injuries. Isshiki took advantage of the hokage's chakra connection to Kawaki through the latter's prosthetic arm, teleporting his vessel to them. As Kawaki tried to escape Isshiki's rebranding, Teuchi attempted to give a diversion via Amenotejikara and a scientifically-enhanced smokescreen. After Kawaki deceived Isshiki with a shadow clone, resulting in the Ōtsutsuki's death.
